Donation Wheelchair BY L.C of BATTICALOA

There was a request for a wheel chair for an elderly lady partly paralyzed have having difficulty in standing and moving, after assessed by the Lion KMM. Kaleel member of Lions Club of Batticaloa living at Kattankudy, a wheel chair was donated to ease her accessibility

Leadership Seminar For O/L & A/L students BY L.C of BATTICALOA

This rural village is situated near coastal area, main livelihood activity of this community is sea fishing, this village was siverely affected in 2004 by Tsunami and also by the ethnic conflict, entire community was displaced and resettled, this school Bt/Kayankerny Sarasvathy Vidiyalayam was located here after the end of conflict, the principal and teachers are putting all their effort in promoting the children's education, thus, the Principal and teachers have planned to conduct a leadership workshop for 55 students studying in year 10 & 11, these students will sit for their secondary level examination at the end of this year. This is a deciding exam for their future career path. Also by this seminar students will be motivated to take leading role in the community and guide others.Lions Club of Batticaloa provided financial assistance for learning materials, resource persons fee, refreshments and also provided face mask

Religious Activity BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple is situated 35km away from Batticaloa town, was started in 1951 in the Valaichchenai Paper factory premises for worshiping by the staff living in the quarters, during the conflict paper factory did not function but some families remained and worshiped in this temple till 2016, then the people moved away but comes to this temple, trustees of this temple were struggling to manage the temple with the little income they get from the offering of people who attends. Now the Government has restarted functioning of the paper factory in a small scale and gradually they will increase the production, on request of the temple trustees, our club has provided grant to carryout pooja for the factory staff and surrounding community to worship

On request of the Rural Development Society (RDS) of Kaluwankerny 01 Grama Niladhari area of Chenkalady Division of Batticaloa District, 300 face masks were donated to distribute to people going for voting without face masks to protect from corona virus, the President K. Logendran, Project chairman Dr. Krishana and the Secretary participated in the project

Donation Mobility aids BY L.C of BATTICALOA

An auxiliary crutches was donated to person of 37 years old, had spinal injury during the ethnic conflict in our country and having difficulty in walking, with this his mobility has improved, we have also identified he is not doing any activities, therefor decided to revisit him to assess him and then to support for a livelihood activity. During the discussion the youth club of same Kauuwankerny 01 village was linked with him and agreed to monitor him after providing livelihood support.

A wheel chair was donated to a child with disability from a poor family, this child can walk to a certain distance with difficulty with the support of a person, his grand mother was taking care of this child, we have given this wheel chair to use as a support while walking and use for seating when he get tired, this encourages him to move around on his own, so the grand mother can rest and also can focus in other activities. Region Chairman, Lions, Leos and lion family members also participated in this event.

Ms. V. Sugajini and her 10year old daughter from very poor background was hit by a vehicle on 19-08-2020 while mother was taking her for a scholarship class, mother had fracture in her leg, and injured her hand and eyes, she underwent surgeries, her daughter also severely injured and hospitalized. Now they are back home and are struggling to move around and we have donated a wheelchair to them.
