St. Joseph Elders Home runs by the Little Sisters of the Poor
The St. Joseph Elders Home was established in 1954 by foreign nuns and caring elders purely from charity from the public, sisters visit houses to collect funds and runs the Home. Now it is run by local nuns, there are 40 elders (21 female and 19 male), 7 nuns and 28 staff consisting of ,gardeners, maintenance staff, cooks and care givers. Due to corona sisters do no go for house visits to collect fund considering the safety and wellbeing of the elders, also income of people is also dropped and prices of essential food items are also gone-up this has severely effected the income of the Elders Home and they are in desperate need of financial assistance. Knowing the situation Lions Club of Batticaloa is motivating people through known circle to contribute to this Home and today we have provided 30 milk food packs to St. Joseph Elders Home.
