Batticaloa town is surrounded by sea and lagoon, lagoon is a treasure to Batticaloa which is surrounded by many parks, relaxing areas for elders and fishing areas, daily morning and evening children, youth and elders can be seen in this area, because of this lagoon the Batticaloa always remain green and attract people from Batticaloa and tourists. Batticaloa Lions Club along with Batti Leos, St. Cecilian Leos, Leo club of Vincentites, municipal council staff and mayor conducted a project of cleaning surrounding areas.
