In a heart-warming display of community support, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) and the Lions Club of Colombo Ceylon Excellence joined together to assist a remarkable young student, Gimesha Sachini Navodya, who ranked first in Nuwara Eliya District in the 2022 Advanced Level Examination. This special event that underwent today (21st October) at the OCDS was graciously presided over by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Deputy Advisor and Honorary Member of the Lions Club of Colombo Ceylon Excellence General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil along with the officials from the Club.
General Shavendra Silva expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Gimesha for securing the first position in the district in the Commerce stream of the Advanced Level Examination 2022 and encouraged her to continue her studies and aspire to serve the country in the future.
Recognizing the tremendous potential and effort that Gimesha invested in her studies, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the OCDS in collaboration with the Lions Club of Colombo Ceylon Excellence provided her with essential appliances for her academic journey. On the request made by the father of this talented student from the Seva Vanitha Branch of the OCDS, a brand-new laptop and essential stationeries were presented to Gimesha, a gesture that will undoubtedly aid in her future educational endeavours at the university.
Gimesha, a talented student from Pussadewa Secondary School, Walapane, secured the top position in the district in the Commerce stream. Gimesha’s remarkable success in the GCE A/L 2022 examination is an inspiring story of dedication and resilience. Hailing from Egodakanda in Walapane, Gimesha had to face numerous obstacles on her education path to success. However, her unwavering determination and commitment to education propelled her to the top of her stream.
