Srinevethi was married to an insurance agent, he met with an accident in December 2020 while he was going to field on a motor bike, he was hospitalized for two days in a critical stage and didn't recover. Srinevthi is a house wife left alone with two schooling children, as this family was struggling for income to maintain and to educate children, our members visited and had discussion with the mother, as she has experience in poultry we gave her a loan of SLR 25000 to enlarge her poultry business

Donating Dry ration to Person With Disability families BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Like other areas Batticaloa district also experienced lockdown due to covid 19 and the people were affected by heavy rain and flood, during this period many organizations including Lions Clubs and individuals helped the community in possible ways, during this period Persons With Disability families faced hardship in earning income due to their disability and disasters, considering their pathetic situation Lions Club of Batticaloa selected most deserving 37 disable families and provided SLR 1200 worth of dry ration pack sufficient to cover a weeks meal to each family.

Assistance for Education BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Mylankarachi village is situated more than 80km away from Batticaloa town, it is a remote village and there is no proper road access to this village, a women headed family having 2 schooling girl children, the eldest daughter is the first one has passed GCE O/L and attending GCE Advanced level. In this village only primary level education facility is available, therefore this girl has to travel far distance to attend Secondary level education, also she has faced difficulty to attend evening coaching classes due to poverty and distance. Seeing their difficulty Lions Club of Batticaloa provided a bicycle, education materials and monthly financial assistance for her coaching classes. Two female Leos assigned with this family to monitor their progress and also for necessary guidance

Water and Sanitation facility BY L.C of BATTICALOA

A widow lost her husband 7 years back, having 3 schooling children, as they struggle for income they didnt have proper water and sanitation facilities, they go far distance to collect water and also for sanitation needs, considering their situation and the risk of a grown up girl going far distance in a remote area, Lions Club of Batticaloa installed a tube well, provided water tank, water pump and a toilet to this family.

Mega Dengue Prevention Project BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Valaichchenai area was given red alert after identifying few patients with dengue fever in December 2020, Lions Club of Batticaloa supported for the whole month for needed remedial action, then again in the latter part of January 2021 4 death reported due to dengue, government health authorities immediately took action to send Medical officers Health (MOHs), PHIs, anti malaria workers and volunteers to check the whole area house by house to identify infected people and also to spray gas to kill the mosquitos, more than 250 staff and volunteers covered the whole area and brought the dengue under control. Lions Club and Leo Club participated in this programme and also provided water, refreshments, meals and transportation

During the hike of Covid 19 Kattankudy was severely affected and locked down several weeks, The Federation for Kattankudy Mosques coordinated and distributed relief items and cooked food, the divisional Secretariat provided dry ration at that time there was shortage of few food items and Lions Club of Batticaloa provided milk powder, potato, onion, etc to distribute among families
