Suventhini and Nanthini are sisters both their husbands have deserted the family long back, Suventhini is having a girl child, Nanthini is having 3 children 2 girls and a boy all are schooling, they faced great difficulty in earning income for living in their own village, for some years they have worked as domestic workers, as their girls have grown-up they couldn't leave them with anyone, therefore they have jointly started selling vegetables and coconut along the road side in the town area in front of a house where they worked before. They used to come to Rivera Resort owned by our Lion to buy coconut, hearing their story and seeing their effort to come forward, he has recommended for a micro loan to enlarge their business. Each one given SLR 20,000 loan

Education Seminar BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Munaithivu is a remote village 73km away from Batti town towards South, majority of the families are doing day wage job for income generating, for over 10 years Lions Club of Batticaloa conduct Education coaching seminars annually for the Ordinary Level and Advanced Level students prior to the examination jointly with the youth club, this year also we have assisted to conduct 3 days seminar from 21st - 23rd February involving teachers from town schools.

Dengue Prevention BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Valaichchenai area was given red alert for dengue after many people were infected, the health department officials were brought from other divisions and cleaned all the premises at Valaichchenai from 1st - 30th December. Lions club of Batticaloa provided refreshments to all the health workers and volunteers for the whole month, the whole population of 27000 people of Valaichchenai area was benefited by this project

Donation Wheel Chair BY L.C of BATTICALOA

A 32 year female was detected for Cancer and lost her mobility, while she was undergoing treatment at the Teaching Hospital Batticaloa Doctor requested for a wheelchair for her mobility at home. As Lion T. Arunagirinathan is also a member of cancer society request was channeled through him and lions club of Batticaloa provided suitable wheel chair

Donation Dry ration BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Lions Club of Batticaloa jointly with Ahilan Foundation distributed dry ration to 124 families in Alayadivembu Akkraipattu in Ampara District, in this 40 families were assisted by the Lions Club of Batticaloa, community of this area was affected by Corona lockdown and flood. Andankulam in Vaharai area is a very remote village having no proper road access to the village, the main occupants of this village is Vedas community, this village also was badly affected by the flood, there are 110 families living in this village, on request of the Divisional Secretary Dry Ration packs worth SLR 120 each were distributed to all the families. The Divisional Secretary, Grama Niladhari and few other staff also attended the programme.

The Batticaloa District also affected by Corona and restrictions applied by the Government and then by flood, Lions Club of Batticaloa assisted to different group of people during lock down and flood. Persons with disabilities are one of the most affected group due to corona and flood, majority of these people are living below poverty, due to this situation they struggle to have regular meals, considering their situation Lions Club of Batticaloa jointly with Leo club of Batticaloa and Disable People Organization provided pack of dry ration to 27 persons with disability (83 members) families worth SLR 1200/pack sufficient for a week for a normal family

PCR and Antigen testing BY L.C of BATTICALOA

Valaichchenai was one of the area affected by Corona and Dengue, the Medical Office Health, Doctors from Teaching Hospital Batticaloa and Lions Club of Batticaloa jointly executed a PCR testing camp and also gave awareness on Dengue. 250 people have done antigen and PCR testing. Lions club of Batticaloa coordinated this programme and aslo provided face mask, water bottles, refreshment, lunch and transport.
